Set up your organization

After your first sign-in, a three-step wizard sets up what the portal needs before you can create links: your organization, your app platform, and your plan. You can't browse past it — until the wizard is done, every portal page redirects here.

This page walks through the wizard once. What each plan costs and includes is in Plans & pricing; cards, invoices, and renewals are in Billing. You need a signed-in account first — see Create your account.

The three steps

A progress bar across the top shows Organisation · Your app · Your plan. Circles fill and gain checkmarks as you complete steps. The steps are an indicator, not navigation.

A Not you? Sign out link sits at the top of every step if the signed-in account isn't yours.

Step 1: Name your organisation

One field, 1–100 characters. An avatar preview builds from the name's initials as you type. Below the field: "This name can't be changed after you create the organisation". There's no rename, so choose carefully.

Click Create Organisation.

Two things can go wrong here, with different fixes:

  • "That organisation name is already taken." The name is in use; choose another and submit again.
  • A "couldn't switch this session" screen with a single Try again button: your organisation was created, only the session switch to it failed. Click Try again. Don't fill the form in again — the organisation already exists, so resubmitting gets you the name-taken error.

Step 2: Configure your app

Register at least one platform: iOS, Android, or both. Each platform is a collapsible card with a badge showing Saved or Not configured.

Until a platform is saved, Continue stays disabled with the hint "Save at least one platform configuration to continue."

The save button reads Save & continue whenever the open form has unsaved edits, and your edits are committed before you advance or switch platform cards, so nothing you typed is dropped.

Step 3: Choose your plan

Four plan cards: Starter (badged Recommended, no card required) plus Solo, Growth, and Scale with prices and quota highlights. Enterprise isn't listed — it's arranged with the OptoLink team, not self-serve.

  • Starter finishes onboarding immediately. No payment details.
  • Solo, Growth, or Scale take you to the payment provider's hosted checkout page in a full-page redirect. Your billing currency decides which provider you get (Stripe or Paymob); you don't pick. After paying, you land on a confirmation page, and onboarding completes once the payment is confirmed.

If checkout fails to start you'll see "Failed to start checkout. Please try again." with the cards still in front of you; retry or fall back to Starter.

If setup waits on someone else

Steps carry role requirements: step 2 needs the developer role or higher, step 3 is owner-only. A teammate without the needed role still sees the step's title and progress bar, plus this banner:

Setup is waiting on your organisation's owner, {name}. Ask them to complete configuration & plan selection.

Step 1 is exempt — whoever creates the organisation becomes its owner.

What you can't do before finishing

The wizard's steps are enforced after the fact too:

  • Creating a link with no app platform registered fails with "Register your app before creating a link."
  • Plan-gated actions with no plan selected fail with "No plan selected for this organization."

Completing the wizard clears both.

Done

You land on the dashboard. From there, follow Quickstart: your first link or invite teammates; roles are covered in Team & roles. If you come back to the wizard page after finishing, the portal sends you straight to the dashboard.
