OptoLink — Pricing Strategy (Final)
Final pricing model. Derived from the competitor analysis in
competitors/. Last updated: 2026-07-30
The model in one line
A free renewable monthly quota (not a free plan) + three paid tiers, billed on MAU with click-based overage — and the differentiator is the soft-cap overage model (never hard-block), not the dollar amounts.
At a glance
| Free Quota | Solo | Growth | Scale | |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Price | $0 | $19/mo | $49/mo | $149/mo |
| MAU | 5,000 | up to 50,000 | up to 150,000 | up to 500,000+ |
| Target | Testing / trial | Single developer, small app | Mid-size app (the 100K-MAU profile) | Established, high-traffic app |
| Click overage | — (hard stop) | $0.25 / 1K | $0.15 / 1K | $0.10 / 1K |
The free quota refreshes every month, forever — no credit card, no expiry. It replaces the conventional "Free plan."
Why this is different from ChottuLink (the direct competitor)
| ChottuLink | OptoLink | |
|---|---|---|
| Free offering | "Free plan" — 25K MAU forever, but stripped (no analytics) | "Free quota" — 5K MAU, refreshes monthly, but full-featured |
| Hitting the limit | Hard wall → forced upgrade | Soft cap → keep going, billed as overage (no hard blocks) |
| Meter | MAU only | MAU for tier + clicks for overage |
| Webhooks | "Coming soon" | Shipped (Growth+) |
| Analytics export | ❌ | Shipped (Growth+) |
Three genuine differences:
- Free quota ≠ free plan. Smaller allowance but full-featured → faster conversion, fewer forever-free-riders.
- Overage mechanic is unique. ChottuLink hard-blocks; OptoLink never stops traffic — it bills the extra. Clients hate hard walls.
- Premium is earned, not assumed. Growth ($49) and Scale ($149) cost more than ChottuLink only because they bundle features ChottuLink lacks (webhooks, export, SLA, overage). Solo ($19) matches to stay frictionless at entry.
Tier details
🎁 Free Renewable Quota
- Allowance: 5,000 MAU / 25,000 clicks per month — refreshes monthly, forever
- Features: Full deep-linking core (deferred DL, QR, OG tags, smart routing, basic analytics)
- Limits: 1 app, 1 developer
- On exceed: Hard stop (no free overage) → nudges upgrade
- Purpose: A solo dev can test a real app forever, but can't run production free
💼 Solo — $19/mo
The indie dev whose app outgrew the free quota.
- Up to 50,000 MAU
- Custom domain, API access, full analytics, 1 developer seat
- Click overage: $0.25 / 1,000 clicks
- Why $19: Matches ChottuLink Indie to remove friction — adds the overage safety net they don't offer
🚀 Growth — $49/mo
The mid-size app — the 100K-MAU profile lands here.
- Up to 150,000 MAU (100K example fits with headroom)
- Everything in Solo + 5 team seats, webhooks, analytics export, bulk link creation
- Click overage: $0.15 / 1,000 clicks
- Why $49 (not $39): ChottuLink Growth is $39 but has no webhooks, no export, no overage. OptoLink ships all three → the $10 premium is earned.
🏢 Scale — $149/mo
Established apps with real traffic.
- Up to 500,000+ MAU
- Everything in Growth + priority support, SLA, higher limits
- Click overage: $0.10 / 1,000 clicks
- Why $149 (not $99): ChottuLink Scale is $99 with no SLA. OptoLink adds an SLA + priority support + overage.
Worked example — the reference client
Client profile: 100K MAU · 1.5K conversions/mo · ~300K clicks/mo
| Tier | Growth |
| Base | $49/mo |
| Overage | None — 100K MAU < 150K cap, 300K clicks within tier |
| Total | $49/mo flat |
Competitor comparison for the same client:
| Platform | Cost |
|---|---|
| ChottuLink Growth | $39/mo |
| OptoLink Growth | $49/mo |
| AppsFlyer Growth | ~$105/mo |
| Branch Essentials | ~$500–700/mo |
| Adjust Core | ~$1,500–3,000/mo |
OptoLink sits just above ChottuLink — justified by webhooks + export + no hard blocks — and well below every MMP.
How the billing works (plain English)
1. SIGN UP → Org starts on the Free Quota (5K MAU / 25K clicks, renews monthly)
2. USE PRODUCT → Links + clicks counted live against the org's quota
3. HIT THE LIMIT → Free: hard stop. Paid tiers: soft cap → overage billed
4. MONTHLY CYCLE → OptoLink totals usage, auto-generates an invoice with line items
5. PAYMENT → Charged via Stripe (global) or Paymob (Egypt) — swappable by env var
6. OPS OVERRIDE → Support can adjust any org's limits/features per customer
Builds on the existing entitlements system (onExhausted: 'overage' already supported). Standard SaaS metered billing — identical in shape to how every competitor bills its own customers.
One-line takeaway
Free renewable quota (5K MAU) instead of a free plan, three tiers at $19 / $49 / $149 mapped to solo / 100K-example / scale — differentiated by the soft-cap overage model (never hard-block) and shipped features, not by the dollar amounts.
